From Pastor John
Myers
For the past 50 years God has placed a special
people at the corner of Foxworthy and Quinto…His people. The members
and leadership of Foxworthy Baptist church has been God’s instrument
for bringing the Good News into the community that surrounds us. "What
kind of instrument", you ask? I believe that Foxworthy has been an
instrument of measurement. I am reminded of Amos when God told His
faithful prophet these words: The LORD said to me, "What do you
see, Amos?" And I said, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said, "Behold I
am about to put a plumb line In the midst of My people Israel."
(Amos 7:8)
It’s easy to see the connection, I hope, as you
look over the time line on the pages of this document. God has called
these faithful leaders to bring the perfect measurement that is His
Son Jesus Christ into an imperfect world that is desperate for that
perfect model of how they could be right with God. But not only these
leaders, but actually all of the church members who worked and served
so hard to be a part of what God was doing over those 50 years.
Now, on our 50th, we see this line as of June 5,
2005 and it isn’t a finish line but rather, the beginning line of that
which will continue on into the future. We use this time line not as
something to look wistfully back upon, but as something we take
encouragement from for the future line that Jesus has in store for us,
His church. The only finish line that we aspire to is the one that is
set by Christ and spoke of by the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:14 as
he said that…"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the
upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
This time line is to be our connection to the past
as we continue to bring the perfect measurement of Jesus Christ into
San Jose. Our line is connecting and continuing with this line into
the future that Christ has for us. I pray that we will be found to be
as faithful as those who came before us and as relevant to their needs
as our predecessors were.

From Pastor
Don Fugate
It has been my great privilege to serve as Associate
Pastor through almost 50% of Foxworthy’s history. The relationships
through the years have been one of God’s greatest gifts. Diann and I
have been blessed to invest our lives in children who have grown into
Christian adults making a difference for God’s kingdom.
The influence of Foxworthy Baptist
Church is felt in churches and mission outposts around the globe. What
a joy to see so many young people grow up in our church family and go
on to make a difference for Christ in both vocational ministry and in
the marketplace.
I’m reminded of John Flowers, my
buddy and AWANA Commander who brings excellence and a passion for
Christ with him whether it’s designing a new circuit for Agilent or a
video for the church. I think of John’s sister, Brenda, who is such a
worthy representative of Foxworthy Baptist Church and the Lord Jesus
Christ, presently letting her light shine as Special Assistant to the
Mayor of Riverside.
I think of Gerry & Susan Vanderford
taking a bold step of faith to become full-time AWANA missionaries,
and David Jarboe, sharing the love of Jesus as a missionary in
Cambodia. Numerous pastors and denominational leaders have been
touched and trained in the Foxworthy Family. I’m reminded of Ron
Pratt, much-loved Youth Pastor, who is now the National Program
Director for Glorieta and Ridgecrest and Mike Riggins, Director of the
Mission Service Corps for the North American Mission Board.
This weekend, as we celebrate God’s
faithfulness, we acknowledge anew that this is His church, planted on
this corner for His purposes. May the Lord continue to build His
church!
